Premier Jacinta Allan promised in May 2024 to introduce legislation to deliver stronger penalties, and it’s time for the Victorian Government to act. Workers on the frontline cannot wait any longer: real, concrete protections must be put in place to keep them safe.
Our members continue to face abuse, intimidation and violence simply for doing their jobs. These workers are among the most vulnerable in our community, and the toll on their safety and wellbeing is unacceptable.
This legislation must be passed without further delay, delivering tougher penalties for customer abuse and violence.
Every day that passes without action leaves workers exposed to abuse and violence. We are calling on the Victorian Parliament to take urgent action to ensure their dignity is respected and their safety and wellbeing is protected.
